General Terms and Conditions of Stay

By booking a stay at Les Hauts de Sancerre, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

Article 1 – Definitions

In these General Terms and Conditions of Stay, the following terms shall have the following meanings:

  • Client: any natural person of legal age with full legal capacity, acting for personal purposes, booking a stay or service at Les Hauts de Sancerre.

  • Establishment: refers to the hotel Les Hauts de Sancerre.

  • Reservation: any booking made by the Client for accommodation or additional services, either remotely (website, telephone, email) or in person.

  • Specific Conditions: specific terms applicable to the Client’s reservation (rate plan, cancellation policy, etc.).

  • Additional Services: supplementary services such as breakfast, treatments, spa access, etc.

  • Contract: all terms and conditions formed by these General Terms and the Specific Conditions accepted at the time of booking.


Article 2 – Purpose and Scope

These General Terms and Conditions define the terms of booking, cancellation, modification, and execution of services provided by Les Hauts de Sancerre. They apply to all Reservations and shall prevail over any other conflicting document, unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.


Article 3 – Pre-contractual Information

The Client acknowledges having received, prior to making a reservation and in a clear and comprehensible manner, all information as required by Article L.221-5 of the French Consumer Code, including:

  • the essential characteristics of the services,

  • the price including all taxes (excluding local tourist tax),

  • payment and execution terms,

  • the identity of the Establishment,

  • information on applicable law, dispute resolution, and the privacy policy.


Article 4 – Reservation

The Reservation becomes effective upon acceptance of the General Terms, provision of valid payment details or deposit payment, and confirmation by email.

  • Each reservation is personal and non-transferable without prior written agreement.

  • For bookings of more than 4 rooms, group conditions apply.


Article 3 – Rates

  • Prices are quoted in euros, including VAT (excluding tourist tax), and are fixed during the validity period.

  • Rates include only the services explicitly mentioned in the confirmation.

  • Any change in VAT or new applicable taxes will be reflected automatically in the price.


Article 6 – Payment

  • Deposit: A deposit may be required at the time of booking. It is non-refundable, except in cases of force majeure.

  • Balance: The balance is due upon arrival or departure.

  • Accepted payment methods: credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), bank transfer. Cheques are not accepted.

  • An electronic invoice is issued. A paper copy is available upon request.


Article 7 – Cancellation / Modification / No-show

  • Cancellation and modification conditions vary depending on the rate booked and are specified in the Specific Conditions.

  • Non-refundable offers are firm and final.

  • In case of no-show or early departure, the full amount of the stay remains due.

  • Clients are strongly advised to subscribe to cancellation insurance.


Article 8 – Relocation

In case of an unforeseen event preventing accommodation (e.g. damage, force majeure), the hotel may offer alternative lodging of equivalent category, or cancel the booking with a full refund.


Article 9 – Check-in and Check-out

  • Check-in: from 4:00 p.m. onwards. An original valid ID is required.

  • Check-out: before 12:00 noon. Late check-outs may incur additional charges.


Article 10 – Security Deposit

A credit card pre-authorization will be taken at check-in as a security deposit. It may be used in the following cases:

  • damage or restoration costs,

  • unpaid services or additional consumption,

  • violation of house rules.


Article 11 – Conduct and Safety

  • Guests must respect the peace and quiet of the property, silence hours (10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.), and the internal regulations.

  • Visitors are not allowed in guest rooms unless registered.

  • Inappropriate behavior may lead to immediate eviction without refund.


Article 12 – Non-Smoking Policy

All rooms and indoor spaces are strictly non-smoking. Non-compliance will result in a minimum cleaning fee of €250.


Article 13 – Pets

Dogs and cats are accepted provided they are kept on a leash or in a carrier in common areas. Pets are not allowed in the restaurants. The hotel reserves the right to deny access to certain animals at its discretion.


Article 14 – Liability

  • The hotel declines all liability in case of theft or damage to personal belongings not deposited in the safe.

  • Any damage caused by the Client will be fully charged, including legal or recovery costs if applicable.


Article 15 – Internet Access

Wi-Fi is provided free of charge. Clients must comply with applicable laws, particularly in matters of intellectual property and IT security.


Article 16 – Force Majeure

In the event of force majeure (natural disaster, pandemic, strike, etc.), contractual obligations may be suspended. If the event exceeds 7 days, the reservation will be cancelled free of charge.


Article 17 – Personal Data

The data collected is used solely for booking and client relationship purposes. In accordance with applicable regulations, you have the right to access, rectify, delete or object to the use of your personal data by contacting: contact@leshautsdesancerre.com.


Article 18 – Complaints and Mediation

If no amicable solution is reached, the Client may contact the independent Tourism and Travel Mediator free of charge: MTV Médiation Tourisme Voyage – BP 80303 – 75823 Paris Cedex 17 – www.mtv.travel


Article 19 – Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These General Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of French courts.
